Bequest a Gift
Your lifetime gift and/or legacy gift to The Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches secures the future of programs and services that create opportunities for upward mobility, self-sufficiency, and independence.
You can help ensure a future of dignity, empowerment, and independence for individuals who are visually impaired by making a planned gift to the Lighthouse.
Charitable Gift Annuity
Reliable income for you. Lasting impact for Lighthouse.
If market ups and downs are wearing you out, a charitable gift annuity (CGA) can provide you with steady, fixed payments for life while supporting Lighthouse’s mission.
Benefits of a Charitable Gift Annuity
- Lifetime fixed payments to you (and/or another person you choose)
- Charitable income tax deduction for a portion of your gift
- Payments that may be partially tax-free
- Meaningful support for Lighthouse, empowering individuals who are blind or visually impaired
How a Charitable Gift Annuity Works
- You make a gift of cash or appreciated assets (such as stocks) to Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches.
- We agree to pay you a fixed amount every year for life. Your rate is based on your age at the time of the gift.
- You receive a charitable income tax deduction in the year you establish the annuity.
- Any remaining value of the annuity at the end of the payment term goes to Lighthouse to support our programs.
Funding with cash can make a significant portion of each payment tax-free. Funding with appreciated securities may reduce or spread out capital gains tax.
Contact us and your financial advisor to explore current rates and see if a gift annuity is right for you.

IRA Charitable Rollover (Qualified Charitable Distribution)
If you are age 70½ or older, you can use your IRA to make a tax-wise gift that supports Lighthouse and may reduce your taxable income.
An IRA charitable rollover—also called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)—allows you to give directly from your IRA to Lighthouse.
Benefits of an IRA Charitable Rollover
- Avoid income tax on IRA funds transferred directly to Lighthouse
- May satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year
- Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions
- Give beyond normal deduction limits, since QCDs are not subject to charitable deduction caps
- Support Lighthouse’s mission today with a flexible, high-impact gift
Current law allows qualified individuals to give up to the annual QCD limit each year (for example, up to $108,000 per person in 2025, indexed for inflation). Check with your advisor for the latest limits and how they apply to you.
How an IRA Charitable Rollover Gift Works
- Contact your IRA plan administrator and request a Qualified Charitable Distribution to Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches.
- Your IRA custodian sends the funds directly to Lighthouse (or provides you with a check made payable to Lighthouse).
- We acknowledge your gift as a qualified charitable distribution, which may count toward your RMD, if applicable.
Please note: IRA charitable rollover gifts are not eligible for an additional charitable income tax deduction, because the funds are excluded from your taxable income.
